Female JousterThere are no standards for lances, either in terms of length, weight, or the materials from which they are made.  There are also no stores that sell jousting lances.  Jousters make their own. Lances, particularly for novice jousters, are often made from rake or shovel handles with a long nail or a spike for the point.  Jousters at all levels who prefer lighter lances frequently modify pool cues.
